St. Bruno, Quebec - Christos E. Menemenlis, 82, a summer resident of 87 Cedarvale Est, South Alburgh, passed away unexpectedly at his cottage on Saturday evening, July 19, 2008. Born on June 11, 1926, in Athens, Greece he was the son of the late Demetrios and Eleni (Vouyioukoglou) Menemenlis. Christos, a Ph.D., worked as a Fellow Researcher at the Research Institute of Hydro-Quebec. He was one of the pioneer scientists who founded this unique world renowned Research Institute. He was also professor of High Voltage Engineering at the Universite de Quebec. He later became professor of High Voltage Engineering and Dean of the Electrical Engineering Department at the Greek University of Patras. Christos was Life Fellow of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), member of the Scientific Committee of ICLP (International Conference on Lightning Protection) and Chairman of ELOT (Greek Standardization Organization for Lightning Protection). Survivors include his wife, Fotini (Kladakis) Menemenlis of St. Bruno, Quebec; a son, Dimitris Menemenlis and his wife, Kate of Los Angeles, California, three daughters, Liana Hopkins and her husband, Sean of White Plains, New York; Nickie Menemenlis and her husband, Ouri Feinberg of St. Bruno, Quebec; and Christiana Brenin and her husband, David of Charlottesville, Virginia. Christos is also survived by ten grandchildren, Brian, Siobhan, Alexandra, Jessika, Anastacia, Sophia, Christos, Esther, Shailie and Eleni. A Liturgy of the Word will be celebrated on Friday, July 25, 2008, at 10:00 A.M. at St Anne Shrine on Saint Anne’s Road in Isle La Motte, Vermont. The Reverend Brian Cummings, S.S.E. will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in the South Alburgh Cemetery. Assisting the Menemenlis family is the Heald Funeral Home of St. Albans.
