St. Albans – Charles K. Blouin, 78, a former resident of Boston, Massachusetts, passed away on Thursday afternoon, August 6, 2009, at the Franklin County Rehab Center. Born on November 9, 1930, in St. Albans, Vermont, Charlie was the son of the late, Cyprien and Eva (Geraw) Blouin. Charlie enlisted in the United States Army on November 5, 1952 servicing in the Korean War as Medical Aidman. He was honorably discharged on November 4, 1954. On August 1, 1961, Charlie reenlisted in the United States Air Force and served during the Vietnam War receiving an honorable discharge on September 20, 1963. He returned to work on the family farm and then as a painter for the former Central Vermont Railway. For a short time he owned and operated the Empire Cab Company. Charlie moved to Boston to enjoy retirement. Survivors include his sisters, Betty Lumbra of St. Albans and Eva Griffith of Connecticut; his brothers, Octave Blouin and his wife, Theresa, of St. Albans and Herbert Blouin also of St. Albans. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and dear friend, Dennis Ferzoco and family of Stoughton, Massachusetts. In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by four brothers, Arthur, Joseph, Carl and John Blouin and his sister, Anna Boulet. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 11, 2009, at 12:00 Noon at Holy Angels Church on Lake Street with the Reverend Maurice J. Roy as celebrant. Interment with full military honors will follow in the Blouin family lot in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Charlie’s family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10:30 to 11:30 A.M. in the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a charity of one’s choice. Assisting the Blouin family is Raymond “Rett†Heald.
