Obituary for Charles H. Conger, Jr.

Charles H. “Chuckie” Conger, Jr Georgia - Charles H. “Chuckie” Conger, Jr., 51, a longtime area resident passed away unexpectedly Thursday, February 15, 2007, at the Northwestern Medical Center with his son Christian at his side. He was born in Waterbury, Vermont on May 29, 1955, the son of the late Charles H. and Rose (Torok) Conger. Chuckie was a 1973 graduate of Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army as a Private Second Class. Chuckie was employed by International Business Machines in Essex and then by the Energizer Plant in St. Albans. He was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed watching all sports. Most of all he enjoyed collecting baseball cards. Survivors include his son Christian Conger and his wife, Elaine of Swanton, his sisters, Beverly Nichols and her husband, Fred of Berkshire and Linda Stell of St. Albans, several nieces and nephews, his former wife, Earlene Conger of St. Albans and three close friends, David Shepard, Mark Lagrow and Greg Carpentier. In addition to his parents, Chuckie was preceded in death by his foster-parents, Carl and Gladys Minckler, his two sisters, Leola and Susan Conger, his brother, Donald Minckler and his brother-in-law, Kenneth Stell. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2007, at 3:00 P.M. in the Heald Funeral Chapel, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans with the Reverend Kerry Cameron, Pastor of the Highgate United Methodist Church officiating. Chuckie’s family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2:00 P.M until the time of the service. Interment will be later this spring in the Conger family lot in Hope Cemetery in Georgia.
