It is with heavy hearts that the Callahan family announces the loss of their beloved mother, Cecelia Greene Callahan. She was called to her heavenly home on Saturday, July 16, 2022, with family at her side. There is no doubt in her family's mind that she danced her way home!
She was born on August 14, 1942 in Bennington, VT to the late Cecil and Katherine (Becker) Greene. Cecelia was just short of celebrating her 80th birthday.
Cecelia dedicated her early years of life to her love of dancing. At 14 years old, she became the proprietor of her own dance studio in Bennington and continued to teach dance for 35 years. She was an accomplished dancer and was a June Taylor dancer on the Jackie Gleason Show. She modeled for Marie Claire in Seventeen magazine, circa 1960 and also had the title of Miss Bennington Battle Day. She was also an accomplished dance instructor whose students went on to dance careers with the Radio City Rockettes and other prominent groups.
As fruitful as her accomplishments and adventures in life were, nothing brought more fulfillment in her life than her family did; she made this clear with her outspoken love! She cherished nothing more than the time spent with her children and precious grandchildren.
She leaves behind her son Philip Callahan and his wife Jennifer; her daughter Katherine (Katie) Pacheco and her husband Joe; as well as her grandchildren: Jameson and his wife Maria Mori, Shannon Callahan, Lia Callahan, Alanah Pacheco and Paige Pacheco.
In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by her brother Andrew Mattison.
Services will be private and at the convenience of her family. Burial will take place at a later date in the Waite Cemetery in Shaftsbury, VT.
Cel's most spoken words, which cannot be more meaningful than now: "Love you more" and "See you in my dreams". Mom/Grandma, "We love you most!"
