St. Albans - Catherine Claire Trombley, age 100, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away at Our Lady of the Meadows on Saturday evening, December 28, 2013. Claire was born March 18, 1913, in Montreal, Quebec, the daughter of John Patrick Boyle and Catherine (Kelly) Boyle. On October 18, 1938, she married Harold L. Trombley in Montreal. From that date forward Claire and Harold made their home in St. Albans. Following Harold's retirement they added a winter home in Spring Hill, Florida. She was a former member of Court St. Mary's CDA and the Autonoe Club in St. Albans and St. Theresa's Ladies Guild and St. Theresa's Social Club in Spring Hill. Claire is survived by a daughter, Sandra Chagnon of St. Albans, and two sons, Howard Trombley (Marcia) of Great Barrington, MA and Shaun Trombley (Susan) of Fairfax; six grandsons, Stephen and Christopher Chagnon, Brian (Jessica) and Timothy (Caroline) Trombley and James (Kristin) and Andrew Trombley; one granddaughter, Renee Trombley; six great-grandsons, Alexander, Matthew and Noah Chagnon, Evan, Owen and Jackson Trombley; one great-granddaughter, Victoria Trombley and six nephews and six nieces, two of whom live in St. Albans, Noreen Corrigan and Eleanor (Levi her vegetable man) Senesac. Claire was predeceased by her husband, Harold in 1986, her parents, her brother, John Boyle and sisters, Mildred McClellan, Aileen Ladue and Estelle Shepard. The family wishes to extend our everlasting gratitude to the staff of Our Lady of the Meadows for the loving care that they gave to our mother and kindness and compassion afforded to the family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 2, 2014, at 11:00 AM at the Church of the Immaculate Conception (St. Mary's), 45 Fairfield, Street, St. Albans. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Claire's name to St. Mary's Church or Our Lady of the Meadows, 1 Pinnacle Meadows, Richford, VT 05476.
