Obituary for Brian Matthew Thomes

St. Albans: Brian M. Thomes, age 55, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2015 in the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans following a brief illness. Born in Springfield, MA on October 10, 1959, he was a son of the late Harold Cecil Thomes, Sr. and Ann “Nancy” Morris (Maloney) Thomes. Prior to making his home in Vermont, Brian worked for the Springfield Parks and Rec Department for 17 years where he was a respected and dedicated worker who was liked by all his co-workers. Prior to his passing, Brian had been employed at Barry Callebaut Chocolate Company in St. Albans. He was a man of wisdom and will be remembered for his welcoming, selfless personality and for his happy, silly nature. He also was a very loving and generous person who would not think twice to help out a fellow family member or neighbor. He was loved by all who knew him or knew of him. Brian especially enjoyed spending quality time with his children and their friends. He leaves his children, Kayla M. Thomes, Megan A. Thomes and Michael A. Thomes, all of St. Albans. His siblings, Donald Thomes, of Springfield, MA, Bonnie Keenan and husband, Thomas of Monson, MA, Cheryl Potito and her husband, Robert of Springfield, MA, and Deborah Thomes, of Virginia, nephews and niece, Jason Keenan of Branford, CT, Scott Trant and Correy Trant both of Virginia and Kelly Trant of Virginia. Brian also leaves several “Adoptive Children” who oftentimes thought of him like a father, including, Peter, Travis, Brandon, Kody, Sammy, Tyler, Cody, Jonathan, Steven and James. He also leaves multiple cats that he considered as his children. Dad you will forever be in everyone’s hearts and on our minds, so rest easy and take care of Scooter, up there. I guess this is goodbye for now honey, we all love you very much and I will miss talking with you. Rest in peace and go be with mom and dad, xoxo, your sister, Bonnie Keenan.
