Obituary for Betty C. Hope

Saint Albans - Betty Hope, 81, lifelong resident of St. Albans passed away peacefully in her home with her loving family by her side, on Monday May 24th, 2021.

If you knew her, you know she loved nothing more than being with her family and spoiling them with baked goods. Her last months were spent making memories to last a lifetime and her family is forever grateful for the time we spent together. She was a loving mother, grandmother and Gigi who never missed a game, concert, recital or event that any of her kids or grandkids were a part of. She was often the first person there to “save seats” because she wanted to be up front.

On June 11th, 1960, she married the love of her life Arnold Hope, who predeceased her May 25th, 1999. Betty was the daughter of Kenneth & Bernice Cantell, who predeceased her.

Betty is survived by her children, Robin & (Tom) Rickabaugh, Wendy Hope & David Aulis, Karen & (Jeff) King and Ken Hope. Her grandchildren, Jamie & (Chris) Ayers, Dylan King & Ashley LaCross, Joshua King & Abby Lawrence, Kasey King, Kyanna King & Andrew Centabar, Daniel Johnson, Morgan Hope & Marley Hope, Ryan Ward & Kaitlyn Marshall, James Hope & Gabriella Lucero, Mason Rickabaugh & Kim Hom, Adam & Aria Hope, Gavin (Shelli) and Timmy Rickabaugh, Anthony Hope & Kristin Cobleigh, Sophia Hope, as well as her great-grandchildren, Faith, Sawyer and Elijah Ayers, Bobby Ward, Camden Hope, Jaxon & Ali Lagrow.

Mom was not only a wonderful mother, she was also the best donut maker ever. She loved watching Hallmark movies, Friends, Golden Girls and over the last six months Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. She was the neighborhood watch for all of her neighbors and enjoyed nothing more than watching the birds, looking at all of the boats in and out of the water, feeding treats to the dogs and spending time with all of her family.

Our family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the incredibly supportive hospice nurses Heather Hughes and Sheree Martel. Thank you for the support you gave us so we could keep Mom at home and be comfortable where she wanted to be.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Betty’s family on Thursday, June 3rd, 2021, from 11:00 AM to 12 Noon at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans. A funeral service will be held at Noon at the funeral home with prayers of committal and interment to follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hospice Program at Franklin County Home Health Agency, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, Vermont 05478.

Honored to be serving the Hope family is the Heald Funeral Home, where messages of condolence are welcome at www.healdfuneralhome.com.
