St. Albans Bay – Barbara L. Mayo, 86, a lifelong resident of this area passed away early Monday July 12, 2010, at the Franklin County Rehab Center after a long illness. Born on October 30, 1923, in St. Albans, Barb was the daughter of the late William C. and Gladys (Thomas) MacCallum. On April 22, 1946, in St. Albans she married Robert C. Mayo, who survives her. Barb was a lifelong member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Past Worthy Matron of Welden Chapter # 79, Order of Eastern Star and was very active in Campfire Girls and Girl Scouts. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Robert of St. Albans Bay; their children, Virginia Patterson and husband, Scott of St. Albans, Cynthia Campagna and husband, Roland of Richmond and Robert Bruce Mayo and wife, Judy of Mesa, Arizona; 3 grandchildren, Toby Patterson, Josh Campagna and Sarah Patterson; her sister-in-law, Lois MacCallum and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by a son, William Thomas Mayo. Services will be private and at the convenience of her family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Franklin County Humane society, 30 Sunset Meadows, St. Albans, VT 05478 or Franklin Lodge # 4, F&AM, c/o Gerald Morong, 76 Prospect Hill Road, St. Albans, VT 05478.
