Obituary for Anthony D. "Chub" Guilbault

St. Albans – Anthony D. Guilbault, a lifelong resident of this area passed away Tuesday evening, June 4, 2013 at the Northwestern Medical Center. Born in St. Albans, on July 3, 1931, he was the son of the late Alfred T. and Mildred (Labounty) Guilbault. He was 81 years old. On October 21, 1971, he married Barbara Sisco, who preceded him in death on April 29, 2012. Chub attended Bellows Free Academy; he then entered the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged on August 13, 1954. During his working career he was associated with the Granite Quarries in Barre, was a firefighter for the City of St. Albans, a longtime welder with John McEnany and Pepper Martin and for several years was maintenance supervisor for Lake Street Housing. He was a member of Robert E. Glidden Post # 758, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and he enjoyed woodworking and fishing. Survivors include his son, Thomas Guilbault of St. Albans; his two daughters, Allie Sisco-Guilbault of St. Albans and Liza Cook and her husband, Stephen, of Swanton; his grandchildren, Tanya Sisco, Stephanie Cook and her companion, Ronnie Young, Allen Cook and his wife, Sharon, Christopher Crapo and his companion, Shelly Nappi and Lance Crapo and his great-grandchildren, Kaylie and Kylie Young, Ivye and Jazper Crapo, as well as his sister, Jane Guilbault, sisters-in-law, Mae Guilbault of St. Albans and Irene Freeman of Highgate, many nieces and nephews and his special companions, Louise and Miss Kitty. Chub is also survived by his step-children, Lomby LaBelle, Richard LaBelle, Jeannette Nichols and husband, Peter, Lillie Beyor, Homer Ward, Priscilla Ward, and step-son and special friend, Robert Ward. In addition to his parents, and second wife, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Pricilla Ward Guilbault; his granddaughter, Melissa; sisters, Adeline Guilbault and Sister Shirley Guilbault; son-in-law, Curtis Crapo and brother-in-law, Edwin Freeman; stepson, Ralph LaBelle and more recently his brother, Alfred “Joe” Guilbault. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Sunday June 9, 2013, from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 10, 2013, at 11:00 AM in Holy Angels Catholic Church, 246 Lake Street. The Reverend Maurice J. Roy will be the celebrant. Interment with military honors will follow at the family lot in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
