Obituary for Anne Marie Shepard Godin

St. Albans – Anne Marie Shepard Godin , 60, a lifelong area resident passed away Thursday evening, June 18, 2009, at her home with her loving family at her side following a four month battle with cancer. Born on May 9, 1949, in St. Albans, Anne was the daughter of the late Edwin and Madeline (Montagne) Shepard. On July 29, 2006 in St. Albans, Anne married Gary Marcel Godin, who survives her. Anne was a 1967 graduate of Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans. For several years Anne was associated with the Kimel family and Radio St. Albans Broadcasting (WWSR/WLFE). For the past twenty years until her illness forced her to retire, she was employed by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, where she was a Secretary and Civil Processor. Survivors include her husband, Gary Godin of St. Albans; her sons, Trevor Cassidy of St. Albans, Joel Cassidy of Williston and Corey Cassidy and his wife, Angela of Georgia; her step-daughters, Kimberly Pratt and her husband, Clint, of Georgia and Kelly Turman and her husband, Brian, of Essex Junction; her grandchildren, Jacob, Logan, Isaac, Caiden and Brody; her step-grandchildren, Zach, Tyler, Carter and Madison. Anne is also survived by her sister, Edwina St. Amand and her husband, Gilles of St. Albans; her brothers, James Shepard and his wife, Mariette of St. Albans and John Shepard and his wife, Brenda, of Massachusetts and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Anne was preceded in death by an infant son, Jamie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 22, 2009, at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Angels Catholic Church on Lake Street with the Reverend Maurice J. Roy as celebrant. Assisting will be the Reverend Mr. Duane E. Langlois, Deacon. Interment will follow in the family lot in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Anne’s family will receive friends on Sunday from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street.
