St. Albans/Swanton - Anna Louise Dumas, 74, long time resident of Lake Street Housing in St. Albans, passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, October 12, 2010, at Northwestern Medical Center with her loving friends and family at her side. Born in Burlington on August 28, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Marion Bevins Dumas and Phillip A. Dumas. She was a resident of the Brandon Training School for 28 years. Upon her exit from Brandon Training School, she made her home in Swanton with Justin and Musetta Bluto and then with Winfred and Laura Decker of Georgia, Vermont. In 1997 she made her own home at Lake Street Housing in St. Albans, where she resided until May of 2010. Anna was a member of Holy Angels Parish, the Ladies of St. Anne, St. Albans Senior Center, and Club Respite. She was also a volunteer teacher of religious education at Holy Angels. Anna was an avid bingo and card player, loved to sing and listen to country music, and was very proud of her extensive collection of beautiful porcelain dolls. Above all, she loved spending her time with family and friends. Anyone who Anna was close to was considered family by Anna. Anna leaves behind her sisters; Gladys Gonyea and her husband, Jerry, of South Burlington, Audrey Dumas of Burlington, Susan Goodwin and her husband, David, of West Burke, and her brother Eugene Dumas and his wife, Linda, of Florida, as well as several nieces and nephews. She also leaves her very special friends Murray and Katherine Robtoy of St. Albans, Trish Robtoy and her partner, Stacy Credidio, of Hartsdale, NY and their daughter, Alexa, Melissa Robtoy and her partner, Tim Nelson, of St. Albans and their son, Terrell, Shirley Austin, Barbara Smith, and her loving care givers; Carole Beckert, Nancy Bockus and Dennis Greene, with whom she resided at the time of her passing, and many other friends. Anna was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Amelia Pearault, on October 2, 1999. Anna was the most kind, gentle, and loving woman who touched the lives of every person who was blessed to know her. She had an amazing heart and smile and appreciation for life that won’t soon be forgotten. The world was a better place because of her. We are all better people for having known her and Heaven is now even brighter with her in it. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 18, 2010, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM in the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans, with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 1:00 PM, in Holy Angels Church, Lake Street in St. Albans. Interment will follow in the family lot in the Hope Cemetery in Georgia, VT.
