Georgia – Ann B. Pierce, a longtime area resident passed away Sunday September 18, 2011, at the home of her niece, Jessie Dowd, in Belfast, New York. Ann was born in 1909, in Birds Creek, Canada, the daughter of the late James and Ester (Brethour) Johnson. Ann was married to Allen H. Pierce, who preceded her in death on November 29, 1966. Ann and Allen will long be remembered for the turkey farm they operated in Georgia for thirty-years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Parish, Catholic Daughters of Americas, former member of the Kerbs Memorial Hospital Gray Ladies, volunteered for twenty-years with the Red Cross blood drawings, a member of Green Mountain Post # 1 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and Robert E. Glidden Post # 758, Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. Survivors include her two foster-daughters, Gloria Reed and her husband, Gary, of Ocala, Florida and Nancy Brehaut and her husband, Edwin, of Georgia; her grandchildren, Julie Brown and husband, Dwight, Allen Brehaut, Tanya Moore and husband, Daniel , Robbie Adams, Randy Adams and wife, Tracee, Roy Adams and wife, Melanie, and Rick Adams; her great grandchildren, Cora Brehaut, Krystopher and Justin Brown, Zachary , Sawyer and Payton Moore; Jennifer, Kyle, Shadoe, Chelsea, Veronica, Victoria, Valerie, John, Charles and Zachary Adams. Ann is also survived by her three brothers, James Johnson of Bolivar, New York, Charles Johnson of Friendship, New York and Herman Johnson of Wellsville, New York, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Ann was preceded in death by her brothers, William and Elmer Johnson, four sisters, Gladys Button, Theresa Thornton, Nora Lewis and Esther Austin and a great grandson, Christopher Adams. A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2011, at 12:00 PM at the Pierce family lot in the Georgia Plain Cemetery on the Stonebridge Road in Georgia. The Reverend Brian J. O’Donnell will officiate. Those wishing to honor Ann’s memory are asked to contribute to St. Mary’s Parish, 45 Fairfield Street, St. Albans, Vermont 05478 or the American Red Cross, Northern Vermont Chapter, 29 Mansfield Avenue, Burlington, Vermont 05401.
