Obituary for Amanda E. Furkey - Funeral Held
Amanda E. Furkey Fairfield Center: A Mass of Christian Burial for Amanda (Raymo) Furkey who passed away Sunday; May 1, 2011 was celebrated Thursday; May 5, 2011 at 11:00 AM in St. Patrick’s Church in Fairfield Center with Father Leonidas B. Laroche, Pastor officiating, assisted by Reverend Mr. Gabriel M. Liegey, Jr., Deacon. The altar attendants were Richard Howrigan and Henry Magnan. The soloists were Jeanne Begnoche and John Schreindorfer, accompanied by organist and pianist, Michael Olmstead. The hymns selected included the Processional, “Amazing Graceâ€, the Response Psalm, “Yes I Shall Ariseâ€, the Offertory, “The Old Rugged Crossâ€, the Communion, Schubert’s “Ave Maria†by John Schreindorfer, the Blessing of the Casket, “Song of Farewell†and the Recessional, “Precious Lordâ€. Placing the Funeral Pall on Amanda’s casket were her Goddaughter, Vicki Berry and cousins, Sarah Sterling and Meg Marshall, followed by placing of the Crucifix, by longtime friend and cousin, Jane Minor. Reading from the Old and New Testaments of Sacred Scripture were Kelly Viens and Fred Anderson. The Holy Gospel was proclaimed by Deacon Liegey, who also led the congregation in the Profession of Faith. Father Laroche then delivered the Homily. Presenting the Offertory Gifts were Ronald Minor and Andy Corrigan. Attending were delegates from St. Patrick’s Parish Family, the Fairfield Fire Department and the Vermont House of Representatives. The Honorary Bearers were Fred Anderson, Albert Tetreault, Richard Howrigan, Fred Ryan and Richard Pelkey. The Casket Bearers were Glenn Brooks, Chad Metayer, Martin Magnan, Steve Safford, Mark Magnan and Norman Menard. Following the Mass, a luncheon was hosted by the Ladies of St. Patrick’s Parish. Interment will be held later this spring in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Wednesday afternoon, Father Laroche and Donna Corrigan Join the family and friends in a prayer service which was held in the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans, VT
