Franklin/Barre – Aldo L. Papazoni, 83, a former resident of Hyde Park, Burlington, Barre and more recently of Franklin passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2010, at the Northwestern Medical Center with his family at his side. Born on May 2, 1926, in Barre, he was the son of the late Leo and Elsie (Lambert) Papazoni. On November 25, 1947, in Waterbury he married Theresa Cannon who survives him. Aldo was a graduate of Spaulding High School in Barre. He then served in the United States Navy during World War II. Upon his honorable discharge, he worked for several years in the granite industry as a stonecutter. In 1987, after forty years of service, he retired from the St. Johnsbury Trucking Company. His favorite pastime was tinkering with automobiles, was an avid NASCAR fan, Jeff Gordon was his favorite driver and loved to play and listen to music, especially the violin. He was a member of the Trucker Local # 597 in Barre and American Legion Post # 7, in Hardwick. Survivors include his wife of sixty-two years, Theresa of Franklin; their sons, Darrell L. Papazoni and his wife, Cheryl of Milton, Dana M. Papazoni and his wife, Colleen of Essex Junction, David A. Papazoni of Swanton and Dale E. Papazoni and his wife Catherine of Franklin. Aldo is also survived by two grandchildren, Brook and Katie and a sister, Elva Chouinard and her husband, Paul of Florida. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2010, at 7:00 P.M. in the Heald Funeral Chapel, 87 South Main St., St. Albans. The Reverend Herman Benjamin will officiate. Prayers of Committal and interment will take place this spring in the East Franklin Cemetery. Aldo’s family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 P.M. until the time of the service.
