Heald Funeral Home Provides Green Burial Options

The Heald Funeral Home in St. Albans has announced they have received certification by the Green Burial Council to now offer Green Burial services (Natural Burial) to area residents.

Green or Natural Burial services return the body back to the earth in its natural form. This type of care impacts the environment minimally, conserves natural resources, limits carbon emissions, promotes the restoration or preservation of habitat and minimizes the use of fossil fuels for burial.

Through certification by the Green Burial Council, the Heald Funeral Home becomes the first funeral home in the area to demonstrate a standard of ecologically responsible burial and other death care services. The Green Burial Council is a nationally recognized non-profit organization working to encourage sustainability in the funeral service profession.

In announcing the Green Burial offerings and certification, Rett Heald, owner of the Heald Funeral Home said, “We are pleased to be able to offer this additional type of service to our area and view this as a commitment to provide the best possible care with as many options as possible for those we serve”.

The Heald Funeral Home, founded in 1918 by Winslow D. Heald, is the area’s oldest family operated funeral home currently in it’s 4th generation of Heald Family service to the community.
