Lotte Margaret Quatt

Fairfield/Burlington – Lotte Margaret Quatt, a former resident of Fairfield and more recently of Burlington passed away early Monday, December 24, 2012, at the Converse Home with her family at her side.

Born in Dortmund, Germany on January 27, 1921, Lotte was the daughter of the late Frederick and Maria (Dreier) Nippgen. She was 91 years old.

Lotte was married to Charles Quatt in 1946, in Regensburg, Germany. He preceded her in death on September 5, 1988.

She was educated in Germany and received a degree as a Medical Technician from the University of Munster. She was very proud of this as she was a Medical Assistant during the War. This is where she met Charles and they were married. Lotte was a devout catholic belonging to the St. Patrick Parish in Fairfield and more recently attended the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Williston.

Survivors include her children, Charles Quatt, of Washington, DC; Eileen Kennedy of Washington, DC; Mark Quatt and his wife, Cindy, of Greenville, South Carolina; Heidi Varsames and her husband, John, of Naples, Florida; Lisa Melas-Kyriazi and her husband, Theo, of Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts and Martin Quatt and his wife, Martha, of Hinesburg; her grandchildren, Lori Varsames, Kristen Tyson, Rachel Santopietro, Sarah Batory, Daniel Quatt, David Quatt, Hannah Quatt, John Melas-Kyriazi, Alexander Melas-Kyriazi, Jake Quatt, Alexandra Quatt and also her great-grandchildren, John, Josie and Ben Santopietro and Charley and Jack Tyson. In addition to her parents and husband, Lotte was preceded in death by her brother, Werner, who was killed during World War II.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday January 26, 2013, at 11:00 A.M. in St. Patrick Church on Church Road in Fairfield with the Reverend William P. Giroux as celebrant. Interment will be later next spring at the family lot in St. Patrick Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, and in recognition of such exemplary care, please send contributions to the Converse Home, 272 Church Street, Burlington, Vermont 05401.
